Calculator Instructions

A calculator is a widely used electronic device or software tool used to perform basic mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as more advanced functions such as percentage calculations, square roots, exponents, logarithms, etc. The following is a general calculator instruction that applies to most electronic calculators and online/software calculators.

2. Basic operations

Addition: Enter the first number, then press the plus ("+") key, then enter the second number, and finally press the equal ("=") key to get the result.

Subtraction: Similar to addition, but use the minus ("-") key instead of the plus sign.

Multiplication: Use the multiplication ("*" or "x") key.

Division: Use the division ("/" or "÷") key.

3. Advanced functions

Percentage calculations: Enter the base number first, then press the percentage ("%") key, then enter the percentage value (note that the percentage sign is usually not required here), and finally press the equal sign to get the result. For example, to calculate 25% of 100, enter "100 % 25 =".

Square root: Some calculators have a dedicated square root key (usually marked with "√"), just press this key after entering the radicand. If there is no square root key, you can use the exponent key (usually "^" or "x^y") to enter 0.5 as the exponent to calculate.

Exponents and logarithms: Use the exponent key to enter the base and exponent. For logarithms, you may need to use specific logarithmic function keys (such as log, ln, etc.), depending on the model and function of the calculator.

4. Clear and Correct

Clear (CE/C): The CE key is used to clear the currently entered number (but does not affect the previous calculation results or the entered expression), while the C key (or the clear function of the ON/C key) is used to clear all inputs and calculation results and start a new calculation.

Correction: If you find that you have made an input error, you can use the arrow keys (if available) to move the cursor and correct the number or symbol.
